Air-Cooled Chillers:
Use ambient air to dissipate heat.
Often installed outdoors.
Suitable for smaller applications or where water is scarce.
Water-Cooled Chillers:
Use water from a cooling tower to dissipate heat.
Typically more efficient than air-cooled chillers.
Suitable for larger applications and where water is available.
Chillers work through a refrigeration cycle involving a compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. The process involves:
- Evaporation: The refrigerant absorbs heat from the water, evaporating into a gas.
- Compression: The refrigerant gas is compressed, increasing its temperature and pressure.
- Condensation: The hot, high-pressure gas releases its heat to the ambient air (air-cooled) or water (water-cooled), condensing back into a liquid.
- Expansion: The liquid refrigerant passes through an expansion valve, reducing its pressure and temperature before returning to the evaporator.
The cooling capacity is from 99kw to 700kw.
The heating capacity is from 99kw to 1896kw.
The refrigerant is R22.
